i have many great memories of DP and feel blessed to no end for having him be a part of my life. i was fortunate enough to live with DP for four years at wake as well as keeping a close bond with him thereafter. This whole week i have been a mess to say the least, as im sure anyway who has had intimate contact with him would say the same. i can't understand it, i just hope and pray that he is in a better place watching over all of us with his warm smile. Lately, everything i do, i can't help but vicariously place pemsler in those same situations and somehow seem to know exactly what his reactions, movement, feelings, etc. would be in these same situations. his presence constantly runs through my mind and i linger on the thought of what he would be do in every situation i encounter. I can only lend my memories of a great person and share some of the things about him that made him so dear to me. so here goes...

-if you find a half-drank glass of ovaltine, or maybe even an empty glass of ovaltine with the milk starting to crust up on it, im pretty sure DP was there.

-if you find three or four soggy cheerios floating around a bowl of three-day old milk, it was pemsler.

-if you find miscellaneous notes that seem to make no sense to the obvious (i.e. i remember flipping through a book he was reading for a class only to stumble upon the word "buttress" darkly underlined with a note to the side saying "this word is very cool, use this in social settings") chances are, it's DPs.

-Addendum to above: if these notes look like the handwriting of a 3rd grader, u know it was pemsler.

- if you find the toilet bowl complete clogged because of the sheer volume of toilet paper used...yup, that's pemsler.

-if you happen to find a hat that can't possibly fit anyone you know, u might want to ask DP if it is his.

-if you come upon a room that has multiple mini footballs and mini helmets along with an abundance of heat and hurricane memorabilia, it's pemsler's room.

-if you have trouble with a recipe or any general life issues, call pam, she knows what to do!

-if the pizza boy comes to the house and says he's got a small cheese pizza minus the whole sauce part, you can be certain that DP is floating around somewhere.

-if you are sitting at a table and you start to feel a funny vibration running through it, i would bet that pemsler is sitting across from you with his headphones on peering into his laptop.

-if you stumble upon a room and you can see clothing items planted about the room so as to easily decipher what was worn each day of the week, im pretty sure it's dp's room.

-if you find a half-awaken person with his head completely under the sheets and you ask him to get up, it is most likely DP and the only response you will get is a half moan slash mumble about something completely unrelated to what is going on.

-if you ask DP a question that involves numbers that he somewhat unsure about, do not be surprised if these numbers jump back and forth by at least random increments of a hundred.

-if you ask DP someone's name that he thinks he might now, he will probably butcher it and mix and match the first and last name for pure entertainment. sometimes i think he really knows the name but does it anyway.

-if you roll up to a party and you hear swooning ladies bursting out with heartfelt cries of DeeeeePeeeee, u know the man is in the house.

-if you see a little man out on the dancefloor whose favorite move is putting his arms stretched out in front of him with a beverage in one hand, swaying side to side with eyes half-open looking like he could not be more content with life, im pretty sure you spotted DP.

-if you happen to look out at someone running and jumping around a playing field like a damn gazelle, it's probably pemsler, his muscle fibers had to be wound tighter than a snare drum.

-if DP greets you with a press of his forehead to your chest or head, almost like he has a football helmet on, it is safe to say that he considers you his buddy.

***i could keep this list rolling, but i think i will end it with my favorite thing about DP that always brought a smile to my face, and that is his unique and unmistakably warm chuckle. I hear it in my head, and it makes me smile everytime. I can't even begin to describe it, but you all know it when you hear it.***

man, im going to miss you...
