There are more of these than I can even begin to remember...
- When DP's freshman year roommate got too drunk and pooped on the rug, DP said it was time to get a new roommate.
- When we were driving to Mt Snow in Vermont to go snowboarding, DP said "so how do they make mountains, do they push the snow together"
- Same trip, driving through DC, DP said "...so Washington, that's a pretty big city?"
- DP's tricked out Honda with rims, tint, and a giant Script D on the windshield.
- DP's next car, his vanilla ice mustang 5.0
- DP and his "flip flops, socks, and sweatpants" straight out of an Outkast song.
- DP and his everything Miami Hurricanes clothing, especially his orange flip flops
- DP moving to NC, and not having any winter clothes at first, he would always be in shorts and flipflops and freezing.
- DP having put up with his "camp awesome" roommates and all the townies and shanagins they brought over Sr. year at Wake
- the way DP would just get an urge, and just bolt out without telling anyone what he was doing or where he was going.
- DP's love for his Miami Heat, and dislike of Antoine Walker
I know there are more, hopefully my short term memory will come back and I can post more, but I'd love to hear what others have to say. |

On a different note,
There was not a better, more stand up quality guy that I have ever met than Dan Pemsler. He loved everyone, would always listen to his friends when they needed help, and had THE greatest zeal for life that really showed in every single thing that he did. I couldn't ask for a better friend than him, and will dearly miss him forever.

I've got a few off the top of my head, I am sure there will be more to come:
-The time I awoke from a nap to hear through the wall the sounds DP talking and singing to himself in the shower.
-Who can forget how much DP hated pickles? And the lengths he would go to get a plain burger.
-Of course there was also the pass/fail ski class in appalachian mountain his last semester at wake. DP learned to snowboard in the class and mastered it impressively. The only set-back was the written test; DP was the 1st person in the class's history to ever NOT PASS the multiple choice portion of the ski exam. This goes to show that DP did things his own way and was still successful at them. He still passed the class. |

While ordering food at the ski lodge, DP would always give a different name to make everybody laugh when they called it over the intercom to say his food was ready.
You'll live on in our many wonderful memories of you DP. |

When I think of DP I think of the time our whole pledge class was driving to Virginia and we stopped at Target or someplace like that. Jackass was a popular show at the time and DP jumped into a shopping cart and Rutledge pushed it across the lot into the curb. DP goes flying out of the cart and does a perfect front roll in the grass and pops up unharmed. He was always looking for ways to entertain himself and others. |

Last night I thought of about 5 things that made me laugh out loud when I was about to fall asleep that I wanted to post but unfortunately my short term memory has failed me once again.
Of of the strongest memories I always had of DP was from a night in March last fall. It was the NCAA tournament, Wake was playing West Virginia in the second round, they were expected to cruise by them into their second strait sweet 16 and vie for a spot in the Final Four. Tom and DP organized a group to go to a bar in Clarendon and then back to their house for a post game celebration, the game was supposed to be a mere formality. In the first half the Deacs opened a commanding lead and everything seemed to be on schedule when the night took a bizare turn. For some reason at half time, the game was pre-empted for another contest so we were forced to watch the rest on the ticker at the bottom of the screen.
Always one to turn a negative into a positive DP suggested we all go back to their place and enjoy the night. To make a long story short, DP and I ended up in his room glued to his laptop watching "gametracker" as the resiliant Mountaineers slowly chiped away at our lead. They brought the game on right as regulation was ending and Wake was down! The game turned into a gut wrenching double overtime thrilling loss where Wake had to come up with a few last second threes to keep the contest going. To make matters worse West Virginia was turning into the cinderella story of the tournament right before our eyes and it seemed as the whole party was suddenly rooting for the bunch of rag tag white boys to knock off our beloved Deacs.
Once the game was over, rather than listen to all the new WVU "fans" celebrate victory DP and I grabed a bottle of something and retreated out back. We basically sat in my car listening to music for pretty much the whole night, wallowing in our sorrow, I think we stayed out there long enough to kill my battery!. Even though it was just a stupid game we both felt crushed. I think it speaks volumes for how passionate DP could be and how much he genuinely would care about what would seemily be the littlest of things. |
